High-Voltage PCBs - Dieletric Strength

Dielectric Strength must be considered for High Voltage Designs.

You may find dielectric strength specified in KV/Meters. However since PCBs are consider thinner than a meter we need to reduce the specification to mils (thousands of an inch) or Milli-meters (metric).

So:

A spec of 30KV/meter = 76V/mil for Dry Air.

Humidity must all so be considered,  the dry air calculation should to be derated.
